First, we were introduced to the unit through an interactive presentation and class discussion followed by an activity of making posters on discoveries. The term truly had an exciting start, with skill-based activities. We look forward to learning more. Bhavya Bansal MYP 3B Overall, we have had note-taking sessions and interesting classes. We discussed vegetative and artificial propagation using interactive tools like Prezi, with images and diagrams for a clearer understanding. This was followed by learning about the advantages and disadvantages of types of reproduction. We learned to break down scientific terminology into smaller words to better understand what they mean. We then started our unit ‘Reproduction in Plants’. We also designed an investigation in groups to further recapitulate the topic. We revised how to formulate research questions and hypotheses, as well as had an interesting discussion on the importance of following the scientific method while conducting an experiment. In our very first lesson, we understood that ‘Science’ is nothing but our real life.We started our biology classes with a recap of the scientific method. Science is complicated, yet intriguing and connected. Physics is a very interactive and interesting class and I am curious to know what we learn in the following lessons.Kshirja Tewari,MYP 3C Biology Through the discussion of various different questions, we understood the concept of fluids and density as well. One of the main questions being how air causes pressure. Then we delved deeper into the topic of air pressure and its properties. We derived the formula of pressure and evaluated its SI unit as well. We conducted an experiment to experience the power of air pressure and begin with the topic pressure. We learnt four main rules of scientific notation along with a few examples and practice questions. It also has an interdisciplinary connection with Math. They are extremely important for our assessments since we have to write our answers in this particular form. We first understood the topic of scientific notation. It is Physics! Our unit this time is ‘Interactions’. I can’t wait to see what we learn next!Niharika Awasthi MYP 3A PhysicsThe whole class knows which class is the most engrossing. This task taught us an effective and visual note-taking strategy. Following that, we created a mind map on properties of acids and bases using our prior knowledge and new information discussed. We began our classes by being re-introduced to the command terms, assessment criteria and steps of scientific method. We had Chemistry skill building sessions where we revised some of the subject specific skills learnt earlier like writing chemical names and formulae for chemical compounds and balancing the chemical equations. We were introduced to the unit ‘World of Chemicals Compounds’ through an engaging class discussion on the key concept, related concept and global context chosen for the unit. After that, we delved deeper into our unit, by having a brief discussion about what we are going to learn from the unit and how to apply it to real-life situations. Overall, the past few weeks have been quite interesting and engaging.Avni Agarwal MYP 3BĬhemistryThe term has definitely had a great start with the activities, the interesting discussions and the informative note taking sessions. We also learned how to write memoirs and understood how language and identity work hand in hand to explore and discover the way one thinks, speaks and one’s perspective on different ideas and thoughts. To analyze the text better and to share our knowledge, we have been assigned reading roles as character trackers, vocabulary inspectors, summarizers, and de-constructors. Recently, we attempted a pop quiz of the first 3 chapters to assess our understanding of the book so far. After some engaging ice-breaking activities, we dived straight into our unit to discuss the details of the new unit and started with the reading of the text ‘My Family and Other Animals’ by Gerald Durrell. Preparing ourselves for the coming year, the command terms were reiterated, global contexts were discussed, and essential agreements were made. The new year began with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal from the teacher and the students. MYP 3B Video- 3B Blog Language and Literature
